4.       Session Fees and Trophy Fund

Each Session Fee             : $22 per bowler

One-time Trophy Fund    : $25 per bowler

80% of all the fees collected, minus off the game fee, will go into the league prize pool while the remaining 20% will be carried forward to Master Event.

Fund transfer is the preferred mode of payment. It is the duty of the payer to ensure the payee has acknowledged your payment.

5.       Format of Play

5.1    This league is planned for a total of 15 sessions, provided the minimum attendance is met on each session. (Refer to 7.3 for details).

5.2    It will be singles format where each bowler will bowl 4 games against all registered bowlers on each session to accumulate session points.

5.3   All registered bowlers will split evenly into 2 categories based on their average from the previous season. The top 50% of the bowlers will be assigned to the Open Category while the remaining 50% will be assigned to the Graded Category. If there are less than 16 registered bowlers, all bowlers will be grouped into one Combined Category.

5.4   If there are an odd number of registered bowlers, the middle bowler will be assigned to the Open Category.

5.5    Starting from next season (Season 18), the previous season's Graded Category champion will automatically be placed in the Open Category for the upcoming season.

5.6    All new bowlers will be assigned to one of the categories based on committee’s discretion.

5.7    For bowlers in both Open and Graded Category, the final placing will be based on the accumulated points of their best 7 sessions.

5.8    The number of best sessions required could be reduced if the number of sessions held is reduced from the 15 sessions planned. The number of best sessions required is 50% of the total number of sessions held and rounded-down for both Open and Graded Category.

5.9    If a bowler did not make up the minimum sessions required at the end of the league, his/her ranking would be based on the points accumulated on the sessions participated.

6.       Session Points (Y=7)

6.1    All bowlers, from the Open and Graded Category, who registered for a session will be grouped together for the purpose of awarding points.

6.2    In every game, the bowler who achieves the highest pinfalls after adding handicap will be awarded Y points while the 2nd highest bowler will be awarded Y-1 points and so on. All bowlers are guaranteed a minimum of 1 point per game regardless of their pinfalls. If there is a tie, the average points corresponding to the tied positions will be given out.

6.3    The accumulated points earned after 4 games will be the session points.

7.       Session Registration

7.1    Invitation will be sent in WhatsApp Group Chat about 10 days before each session.

7.2    Registration will close on Tuesday 1200H, the same week as the session.

7.3    Each session will only commence if minimum Y bowlers are registered. Otherwise, it will be called off. The league session will then be replaced with non-competitive practice session.

7.4    Bowler who registered but subsequently decided to withdraw will have to pay a penalty of $22 UNLESS he/she meets one of the below conditions:

a)     inform the coordinator before the registration deadline.

b)    find a replacement bowler who has not registered for that particular session.

c)     on official medical leave or compassionate leave. He/she is to send the reason of absence to JBI Committee Members for recording purpose.

7.5    A confirmation message will be sent to all registered bowlers in WhatsApp Group Chat latest by Thursday, one day before the game day, indicating if the session is on or called off. It is registered bowlers’ responsibility to check if the game is still on.

7.6    If there is slot available after registration closes, late registration is allowed but bowlers will need to pay $24 instead of $22 for the session fee. If he/she subsequently decided to withdraw, he/she will have to pay a penalty of $24 UNLESS he/she meets either condition 7.4(b) or 7.4(c) above.

10.    Tardy player

A bowler arriving late after the commencement of the scheduled match (1900H) is allowed to begin from the 1st frame onwards, provided the last bowler of the pair of lanes has not completed the 3rd frame. The late bowlers must be lined up in accordance to the assigned sequence.

A time allowance of 20 mins, i.e. 1920H, will be used to determine the completion of the 3rd frame should there be a protest/complaint by any bowler that the game has been deliberately slow down to wait for the “bowler” to arrive.

If the late bowler missed the 1st game but has arrived by the 3rd frame of 2nd game, a blind score of the base (130 or 140 pinfalls) with 0 handicap will apply for the 1st game. He/she can continue to bowl the 2nd game onwards. This rule applies to 3rd and 4th game as well.

Late bowler is required to pay the full session fee and is not allowed to bowl for the game(s) that he/she missed.

11.    Blind Score

A bowler who has registered but did not turn up after the 3rd frame of the 4th game is completed by the last bowler of the pair of lanes will be considered bowling using a blind score of the base (130 or 140 pinfalls) with 0 handicap in all 4 games. Bowler is still eligible for session points. It is the bowler’s responsibility to ensure that $22 or $24 (for bowlers who registered after deadline) to be paid to the treasurer if there is a blind.

12.    Roll-off

Roll-off is not allowed anytime in the league.

13.    Conduct of Bowling

Any bowler found guilty of deliberately committing foul/gutter throw in order to “sandbag” his/her score will be disqualified from the league and all points awarded will be forfeited.

14.    Tie Breaker

Should there be a tie in total points at the end of season, then the highest session points will be used as tie-breaker. If it is still tied, the second highest session points will be used as tie-breaker and so on.

15.    Game Monsters Prize

Game Monster prize will be given to 1 bowler each from Open and Graded Category who has achieved the highest handicap game in every session. If tied, the next high handicap game will be used as tie-breaker and so on.

16.    High Game Prizes

There will be 2 High Game Scratch and 2 High Game Handicap Prize given out at the end of the season in both Open and Graded Category. Bowler who wins the High Game Scratch is not eligible for High Game Handicap. Should there be a tie in pinfalls, then the prize will be shared equally.

17.    League Prizes

Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 bowlers in both Open and Graded Category. Cash prizes are awarded to the top 4 bowlers in both Open and Graded Category. Details of the prize allocation can be found under the Prize List page.

18.    Master Event

A 6-game series Master Event will be held after the last session of the league. All bowlers will bowl together in 1 combined event and handicap accorded. Bowlers from both Open and Graded Category will be given 0.75 of their final league handicap. Bowlers must bowl a minimum of 30% of the conducted session and rounded-down, ie 4 sessions if 15 sessions are conducted, to be eligible for the handicap.
